Debussy's 'Premiere Suite d'Orchestre' was
premiered on February 2, 2012 at the Cité de la
Musique in Paris by the ensemble Les Siecles. The
piece was long considered lost. Musicologists knew
of its existence through reports and letters, but
no one knew the score until 2006, when it
happened to fall into the hands of two French
researchers in a New York library. They discovered
a complete version for piano duet, published in
2008, and a fragment completed by Philippe Manoury
to be presented to the public 150 years after
Debussy's birth.

'La Mer' is one of Claude Debussy's most admired
symphonic works. His Premiere Suite d'Orchestre,
considered lost for over a century, was a real
discovery in 2013 when the Ensemble Les Siecles
made the world's first recording on original sound
instruments! Now this recording is available in a
remastered version; it thus offers an ideal
opportunity to completely re-evaluate the career
of a musician of whom one thought one already
'knew everything'.
